We're creating this blog because it's the cool thing to do when people are having a baby. Just kidding, really we already have a hard enough time keeping up with everyone we want to, and our lives are about to get even more wonderfully busy. We can't wait - and we want you guys to be able to share in it too, so we both plan on reporting on it. Read at your own risk, and hopefully you'll enjoy it!

Post-Op
Thank you everyone for your prayers and support! Surgery went fine today. The entire procedure took about 10 minutes. The waiting took about 3 hours. As you can see, Ben is in fine form and doing great. More to come tomorrow!
We married on August 11th, 2006 and moved to Baltimore. Brian is currently a Ph.D. candidate in the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health's Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Department. Katie is serving as the Worship Director of the DC CRC (our great church) and taking classes for her Masters in Religious and Theological Studies.
On September 13th, 2008, we added a 3rd dimension to our family, adopting an incredibly sweet brown/black lab mix puppy named Brina with a white chest, white rear paw socks and a white tail tip. She's great.
Then, on February 21st, 2009, we found out that the 4th member of our family would be coming sometime in October, and we cannot wait!
About Brian
Born in Philadelphia and a fan of all things from the city... Eagles, cheesesteaks, Phillies, Flyers, cream cheese and 76ers (yes, Soul and Kixx too). Went to Calvin College and studied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, graduating in 2006.
Now earning his Ph.D. in Biochemistry, playing with his dog and looking forward to becoming a Dad!
About Katie
Denver Girl at heart. Spent two years in Boston at Gordon College training in Music and managed to become a Boston Red Sox fan. Transferred to Calvin College in 2004 (best decision she ever made). Graduated as Calvin's first major in Music and Worship. Works now at the DC Christian Reformed Church as the Minister of Music and Worship. And yes, she chose this color.
